MAN GLOVES

Autumn is coming and even though it might be evident for my female friends that it's the time of the year when you are allowed to wear all the fancy gloves, it might not be that big deal for the guys.

I really fancy masculine elements in my style and before I found the gloves I have now, I was searching for a perfect pair for years. And I am not even exaggerating, I really wanted to find simple and elegant leather gloves with holes at the knuckles. For some reason I just didn't like any pairs I found. The funniest part is that even though I wanted really masculine gloves (just smaller size than in many of the pictures below) I ended up buying bright fuchsia coloured gloves!

Personally, I prefer my gloves to be slightly worn and perfect fit for my own hand. I also love when the gloves go perfectly with the watch you are wearing, Actually my bright fuchsia pair matches perfectly with my highly masculine watch. It balances the combo to be simple, masculine yet same time it is feminine.

My next pair of gloves is gonna be a real man glove pair. Perfect fit and touch of masculinity which I will combine with a bright trench and chunky woollen scarf.

WORKSPACE

Your own workspace has to inspire you. I have come across this topic lately a lot since I have been thinking quite actively of how to be motivated with my upcoming Master's Thesis autumn. Having a cozy workspace is definitely one big factor.

I personally find it difficult to work from home, no matter is it school or work related tasks. It usually  feels difficult for me to concentrate on something when I have so many other things at home. In these cases I believe that having a physical spot that is dedicated for work helps a lot.

Many of the pics below have some green at the workspace. That is something that I am missing from mine and I am seriously considering of adding a plant or two! Though my desk is not close to window so they might as well die in a week.

In future, I'd love to have a real home office. I do have a spot for work but neither me or my boyfriend use it properly (unless storage and morning coffee cup holder counts). Though this spot was not even designed to be a proper "home office". Anyways, if I had a real home office, I would make it a statement of my persona. I'd love it to tell something about myself to the others. Maybe that's why I also reeeally enjoy inspirational quotes, statements and posters. It might be just my own opinion, but I think those little things tell a lot about the person who works from that spot.

FLORALS

My love for florals is not that old. In a way florals remind me of my childhood summers in Crimea (same issue with polka dots). I have never seen as many tacky combos as there. I have no idea how their sense of style can be that different from mine. Or half Europe, for that matter.

Florals are like leopard print, it can look either really fantastic and chic.... Or absolutely horrible cheap crap. Especially now that floral is so trendy and it can be found almost in each store, there is a wide variety where to choose from.

Helsinki is cooling down after a hot summer yet I am not ready to hide florals in the closet. Even though I consider florals mostly as summer pattern, I do have some really cute florals that match perfectly the chill autumn evenings as well. I could easily wear a long-sleeve floral shirt with a classical camel trench coat and a stetson. Booyaah! That would be hot.

How to create the look?

Since I am not ready to quit summer yet, I am proposing something that is still wearable even though it's not that summerish outside anymore.

I have come across several outfits where florals are combined with stripes and it looks quite amazing! Pattern on pattern, hah? I almost did a floral-stripe combo of my own but changed my mind in the end. For my combo I took as basis a floral shirt and decided to pair it with pants. I took the colour for them from the flowers. Which btw do not even look like flowers! Anyways, out of green and orange I went for the latter so I could add in the combo some splash of blue. Light coloured jacket is a good way to balance the outfit. And keep you warm.

Other options would be to go with floral dress and bright jacket or floral skirt and striped tee.

CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS

I grew up  in a home where crystal chandelier decorated our living room for as long as I remember. It was so simple and elegant and even when after years it started falling apart crystal by crystal, I still deeply loved it and didn't want to throw it away. With Mom we would stitch together the hanging circles (that worked as basis of the chandelier) with all sorts of tricks.

Nowadays crystal chandeliers are not only those old fashioned and bling-bling Russian tacky versions. Check out the photos below and pay attention on how even very traditional chandelier can work well in both classy, rustic and minimalistic rooms. Of course the chandelier changes the atmosphere yet I believe that's the whole point. By adding a super-duper classic crystal chandelier into a very otherwise different interior, you can create a fantastic combo that fascinates and states brave and bold combo.

When we moved in our present home I said to my darling: "The only lamp that is gonna hang from our ceiling is a chandelier". I really wanted to add the sparkle of crystals. I got through with my wish but I had to choose a very modern version that felt manly enough for my beibs. I'm still deeply satisfied by the fact that I have one!

Oh and you asked what happened to the chandelier at my childhood home? It's still there! Unfortunately not hanging anymore from the ceiling but we have packaged it in a box and put aside, not wanting to throw it away. Maybe one day it will be my new project to disassemble it and re-gather it with new pieces.

MEN IN BLUE

Drum beats! Pum pum pum!  This has to be one of my favorite topics. Men In Blue Suits.

The thing is..... That I have A THING about men in suits. I just get this incredible excitement when I see a well tailored suit that fits perfectly its beholder. Especially if the suit is well combined with other pieces. It's the combo that matters. Till the last detail.

Somebody somewhere said that "Blue suits should not be restricted to navy"  Navy is classy but the electric blue is sassy and sexy! Well tailored and classy suit might still look boring and plain without the right accessories and colour focuses. I personally really enjoy bold statement. And even classy can be made bold.

Colour and pattern play a significant role both in male and female clothing. Especially when talking about suits, it's extremely important to have some creativity and not go with the most obvious (and usually most boring) option. I know sometimes black & white combo is The Thing but now I am talking about suit combos that are gonna make girls (and probably guys as well) faint!

How to create the look?

I wish I could just send a link and say VOILĂ€! However I believe finding a suit is a much bigger project and it requires dedication. After being able to dedicate the time needed and being able to pay for this delight, one needs to find a person who will guide through this process. It needs to be someone who understand the fit and the stylistics of suits.

Finding an electric blue suit is not easy. I have gathered an example of blue combo yet it is a very calm and safe option. I chose three basic colours - blue, magenta and brown - and combined them proportionally. I highlight that my suggestions is the safe option. If it's anyhow possible, go with much bolder version of this one! Brighter suit would already make a huge difference!
